Brasov
Brasov Romania Brasov is one of the largest and most cherished cities of the country. Surrounded on three sides by mountains, it was a perfect place for a medieval settlement. The old city, founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1211, is one of the best preserved cities in all of Europe. It was thoroughly restored to the delight of an increasing number of tourists. It is the capital city of Brasov County, in central Romania, in Transylvania, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. Brasov also makes a fabulous base for exploring the surrounding countryside where the air is clean and the people friendly.
Poiana Brasov
Poiana Brasov Romania Just 12km (7 miles) away from Brasov city you will find Romania's most famous skiing resort, Poiana Brasov. It is referred to in ski directories all over the world. The snow layer lasts for 120 days a year. It features great hotels and restaurants, modern winter sports facilities and numerous ski slopes.
Predeal
Predeal Romania Predeal is an other important mountain resort, just 25km fromBrasov. It is the town at the highest elevation in Romania (1033 m altitude). Located in the Prahova Valley it is surrounded by five massifs: Postavaru, Piatra Mare, Bucegi, Baiului and Fitifoi. Predeal is the perfect base for mountain hikes and, in winter, for skiing down the Clabucet and Cioplea slopes.
Sinaia
Sinaia Romania Located in a beautiful mountainous region, about 120km from Bucharest and 50 km from Brasov, in the Prahova Valley, Sinaia is one of the oldest and most famous mountain resorts, often referred to as "The Pearl of the Carpathians". It was named after the holy Mount Sinai in Egypt. It used to be the summer residence of the royal family. Today you can visit the breathtaking Peles Castle.
